Julian Saltman

Julian Saltman is senior historian at Wells Fargo Bank within the Wealth & Investment Management division. He joined the bank’s Family & Business History Center in 2015, bringing subject matter expertise in the areas of European and military history.
Julian uses historical documents to help families discover, interpret, and preserve their family history for future generations. He is particularly focused on helping families understand their story within the context of larger historical events.
Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Julian was an Oak Ridge Postdoctoral Fellow with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, an agency of the United States Department of Defense. As a Fellow, his historical research supported efforts to identify unknown soldiers from World War II and return them to their families.
Julian earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Dartmouth College. He received his Master of Arts and Ph.D. in Modern European History from the University of California-Berkeley, where he won an award for outstanding teaching. He lives in Seattle with his family.
